Hey there, this crochet pattern was created by Canyon Castle!  It is super easy to follow and has numerous pictures to help you along the way.  This beautiful hat is crocheted with the exquisite dragonscale or crocodile stitch and has a lovely front-post-double-crochet brim.  The crocodile stitch is a little difficult to master for the beginner, but this pattern is super understandable and with a little practice you will get the method.  This hat is a messy-bun hat, with a hole in the top for your ponytail or bun to go through. 
 
(Overview)- We will begin crocheting from the bottom of the hat and will work upward, crocheting the body of the hat with crocodile stitches.  When we reach our desired height, we will crochet around a hair tie or ponytail to make the hole for the bun or ponytail.  Then we will go back to the bottom of the hat and crochet the brim, finishing with a pretty round of reverse single crochet.
 
To make one of these beautiful hats, use fingering weight yarn and a size 3.75mm or F crochet hook.  The fine, lightweight yarn gives you an intricate, detailed look, while if you used worsted weight yarn, your hat would turn out bulky and boring.  As shown in the pattern, you can fully customize the hat to fit your head.
